About ScoglittiRace

ScoglittiRace is the international half marathon that brings the seaside village of Scoglitti, a district of Vittoria in the Ragusa province, to life every spring. Runners take on a fast, internationally certified 21.097 km course along the Mediterranean waterfront, officially recognized in the World Athletics calendar. The event also features the 10K Pescamare Trophy and a fun run open to everyone, attracting hundreds of Italian and international athletes with its mild climate and stunning coastal scenery.

An international half marathon by the sea in Scoglitti

The ScoglittiRace is the premier running event on the Ragusa coast: an international half marathon held in the charming seaside village of Scoglitti, part of the municipality of Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa. Since its inception in 2023, the event has quickly become one of the most anticipated spring races in Sicily, drawing hundreds of runners from across the island, mainland Italy, and abroad.

A fast, certified course

The main event is the classic 21.097 km half marathon, with the start and finish line located in the central Piazza Sorelle Arduino, in the heart of Scoglitti. The course winds along the waterfront and through the village streets; it is completely flat and exceptionally fast. Half marathon runners complete two laps plus a short technical extension to meet official distance requirements, while the 10K consists of a single loop. Both distances are FIDAL-certified, and the half marathon has earned international certification, securing its place in the World Athletics Calendar—a prestigious recognition that attracts elite African athletes chasing personal bests.

Multiple races in one event

ScoglittiRace is more than just a half marathon: the program includes the 10K Pescamare Trophy and a non-competitive sports walk, open to families and casual runners. This multi-distance format turns the day into a true celebration of popular sport, where elite athletes and walkers share the same beautiful coastal backdrop. The race also awards the regional absolute titles for the half marathon and serves as a key stage in the Sicilian Regional Grand Prix for long-distance running.

Scoglitti and the surrounding area

Scoglitti is one of the most well-known seaside districts on the coast of Vittoria and the entire province of Ragusa, famous for its golden beaches, a lively fishing port, and a promenade that offers the perfect climate for running in the spring. Organized by ASD Athlon Kamarina, the event combines a passion for running with the promotion of a corner of south-eastern Sicily that remains largely undiscovered by mass tourism, offering a blend of sea, fresh seafood, and authentic Iblean hospitality.
