About Sciacca Signature Ceramics

Sciacca Signature Ceramics is an event celebrating one of Sicily's most iconic artisanal traditions: Sciacca ceramics. For three days, the historic center of Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento, transforms into an open-air museum featuring open workshops, live pottery demonstrations, decorated jars scattered across squares and alleys, exhibitions, guided tours, and entertainment. This free event weaves together art, craftsmanship, culture, and tourism, showcasing the expertise of master potters who have been renewing the city's identity for centuries.

A city of ceramics

Sciacca Signature Ceramics is the event that the Municipality of Sciacca dedicates to its most representative craft: Sciacca ceramics. A thermal and seaside town overlooking the Strait of Sicily, in the province of Agrigento, Sciacca has been one of the historic centers of Italian ceramics for centuries, alongside Caltagirone and Santo Stefano di Camastra. With this festival, the city showcases its identity, turning the historic center into a widespread path where ceramic art becomes a cultural, economic, and tourist asset.

The heart of the event: the workshops

The absolute protagonists are the artisanal workshops, which safeguard and renew an identity-defining tradition every day. During the event, the workshops in the center remain open to the public, and master potters hold live demonstrations, revealing the techniques of Sciacca ceramics: wheel throwing, the modeling of the famous jars, and hand-decoration with the typical colors of the Sicilian tradition. In previous editions, the workshops created new jars that were then donated to the Municipality and permanently placed among the squares and streets of the center, from Piazza Saverio Friscia to Via Roma, permanently enriching the face of the city.

Exhibitions, guided tours, and shows

The program alternates between exhibitions, guided tours through the workshops and traditional ceramic sites, meetings and seminars on the relationship between ceramics, tradition, and modernity, and evening entertainment including music, street theater, and children's activities. The squares of the historic center - including Piazza Angelo Scandaliato, Piazza Saverio Friscia, and Piazza Carmine - host the events, which enliven the evenings until late.

A network for Sicilian ceramics

The 2026 edition involves the AICC - Italian Association of Ceramic Cities, the IISS "T. Fazello" with its ceramic decoration section, the Ceramic Roads Network, and ambassadors of Sciacca ceramics. A network that enhances artisanal expertise and strengthens Sciacca's role as a symbolic city of Sicilian ceramics, in dialogue with other Italian ceramic cities.

When and where

The event takes place in the historic center of Sciacca, in the province of Agrigento, Sicily. Admission to the events is free. Designed as an opening to the tourist season, it is an opportunity to discover a city of art and sea through the common thread of its ceramics.

Sciacca Signature Ceramics โ€” edition 2026
