The Schlosskonzert in Montagna

The Schlosskonzert is one of the most anticipated musical events of the summer in Montagna sulla strada del vino (Montan an der Weinstraße), in the municipality of the same name in the province of Bolzano, South Tyrol. Once a year, in August, the Musikkapelle Montan, the local brass band, brings its music inside the courtyard of Schloss Enn (Enn Castle), one of the most fascinating historic residences in the area.

A castle that opens its doors only once a year

Schloss Enn, which overlooks the village near the hamlet of Pinzon, is a private residence not normally accessible to the public. For this very reason, the Schlosskonzert represents a special and unrepeatable occasion: it is the only day of the year when the castle gates open to welcome spectators into its inner courtyard. As the event's presentation states, it is "a concert that can be experienced only once a year."

The evening and the atmosphere

The concert is held in the evening, with the castle opening beforehand and the music starting around 9:00 PM. Under the centuries-old walls, amidst the lights and the cool summer air of the South Tyrolean hills, the Musikkapelle Montan offers a varied program ranging from traditional band repertoire to more modern pieces, under the guidance of their conductor. At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to a buffet included in the ticket price, a convivial moment that extends the evening within the castle's setting.

How it works

• The castle has no parking: a free shuttle/taxi service is organized from the main parking lot in Montagna to Schloss Enn.
• The final buffet is included in the entrance ticket.
• In case of bad weather, the concert is postponed to the following day.
