Music and street food on the seafront of Sant'Agata di Militello
The Schiticchio Festival is one of the most popular music and street food events in the Nebrodi area, held in Sant'Agata di Militello, in the province of Messina, Sicily. The name draws from a term dear to Sicilian tradition: the "schiticchio" is a grand feast shared in good company, a convivial celebration among friends, and this is precisely the spirit that drives the event on the seafront of this Tyrrhenian town.
The festival is organized by the Karibe group, a historic venue that is a symbol of local nightlife, with the patronage of the Municipality of Sant'Agata di Militello and the support of the regional departments of Tourism and Agricultural Policies. From a local gathering, the Schiticchio has grown edition after edition to become an event capable of attracting thousands of attendees from all over Sicily, with visitors arriving from as far as Lipari, Troina, and Nicosia.
The program alternates concerts by nationally renowned artists, performances by local bands, and long DJ sets that continue late into the evening. The day unfolds from noon until night, transforming the seafront into a large open-air stage overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The beating heart of the Schiticchio is the street food village, with numerous food stalls and bars offering Sicilian specialties and typical products from the Nebrodi mountains: cured meats, grilled meats, fresh fish, fried delicacies, and traditional desserts, accompanied by live cooking shows and tastings. A selection designed to enjoy a day dedicated to great food and social connection.
With free admission and an atmosphere of popular celebration, the Schiticchio Festival has established itself as one of the most anticipated spring events on the northeastern Sicilian coast. It is a perfect opportunity to discover Sant'Agata di Militello, its beaches, and the Nebrodi hinterland, on a day when—as the organizers love to say—distances shorten and only the pleasure of being together remains.
The 2026 edition of the Schiticchio Festival marked a turning point: for the first time, the event took place over two days, April 25 and 26, in the new Villa Bianco space on the Sant'Agata di Militello seafront, chosen to ensure greater accessibility for an increasingly large audience.
The musical program featured Clara, winner of Sanremo Giovani 2023 and later a contestant at the Sanremo Festival, on Saturday, April 25. Sunday, April 26, featured Banfy, author of the hit "Bam Bam", accompanied by the "Domenica Italiana" format with Mario Tumino and La Pineta. Both days were enriched by local bands and DJs, including Antonio Bonina.
On the gastronomic front, the village featured 10 street food stalls and 7 bar points, offering Sicilian specialties and Nebrodi products. With free admission and a shuttle service upon reservation, the event attracted thousands of visitors from all over Sicily.
