The food and wine festival of Pietraperzia in Piazza Matteotti
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The "Sausage and Wine under the Clock" festival is one of the most cherished summer evenings in Pietraperzia, a small village in the Sicilian hinterland in the province of Enna, in the Sicily region. The event takes place in Piazza Matteotti, one of the town's most picturesque squares, overlooking the Town Hall (the ancient Convent of San Domenico) and the 16th-century Church of the Rosary. It is right here, under the clock that gives the event its name, that the community gathers to celebrate the products of the land.
At the heart of the festival are two iconic products of the local gastronomic tradition: sausage grilled over charcoal and wine from the Erei vineyards. The stands set up in the square offer tastings at popular prices, in a convivial atmosphere that brings different generations together. Sicilian sausage, seasoned with fennel seeds and sometimes with cheese or chili pepper, is cooked on the spot and served hot, while local wine accompanies the evening.
The festival is included in the rich Estate Pietrina program, the series of summer events promoted by the municipal administration of Pietraperzia, which enlivens the town between July and August with concerts, dance evenings, shows, gatherings, and sporting events. The organization of the festival is handled by the Pro Loco of Pietraperzia, in collaboration with local associations, making it a showcase for folk traditions and the village's identity.
More than just a tasting event, "Sausage and Wine under the Clock" is a moment of collective celebration. The lights illuminate the square, the tables fill up, and music plays until late in the evening. It is the ideal opportunity to discover Pietraperzia, a village of ancient origins perched on a cliff of "perforated stones" from which it takes its name, and to savor authentic Sicilian hospitality in one of its most genuine forms.
The 2026 edition of the "Sausage and Wine under the Clock" festival in Pietraperzia (Enna) will be part of the Estate Pietrina program. Official dates have not yet been communicated: in previous years, the event was held between late July and August in Piazza Matteotti. It is recommended to check the updated calendar on the channels of the Municipality of Pietraperzia and the Pro Loco as summer approaches.
