A festive afternoon for children in Piazza Gragnano, Tufino
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
When the festive lights illuminate the streets of Tufino, a small town in the Province of Naples overlooking the Nola plain, the heart of local life shifts to Piazza Gragnano. This is where Santa's Little House is set up, an event dedicated by the Municipality to children and their families: an afternoon designed to help kids experience the magic of waiting for Christmas in a shared public space, right in their own neighborhood, without needing to travel to the large shopping malls of the Neapolitan hinterland.
The star of the show is, of course, Santa Claus, who welcomes children into his house set up in the square, listens to their wishes, and collects their letters in a special mailbox. All around, the afternoon is filled with games and entertainment:
This is not a massive city-style Christmas village, but a community celebration tailored to children: this intimate scale is its most evident quality, allowing even the shyest kids to approach Santa Claus without the long lines found at more crowded markets.
Santa's Little House is described by organizers as one of the most anticipated events in the holiday program promoted by the Municipality of Tufino. The stated goal is twofold: to give children a day of Christmas magic and, at the same time, to strengthen community bonds by bringing public spaces back to life during the holidays. Piazza Gragnano is, after all, the premier event square in Tufino: the same one that hosts the evenings of the patron saint festival of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle in summer and other municipal initiatives.
The initiative is part of the 'Six Villages, A Thousand Stories… Tourism in Campania' project, funded under the Cohesion Agreement of the Campania Region. The project networks various municipalities in the area with the goal of enhancing culture, traditions, and events capable of attracting visitors and creating opportunities for social interaction. For a village like Tufino, this means building a more stable and recognizable calendar of initiatives rather than isolated events: a networking logic that has become central to tourism policies in inland Campania and areas less frequented by mass tourism in recent years.
Tufino is a small town in the eastern Neapolitan area, part of the belt of towns surrounding Nola, between the plain and the first hills. It is a territory with an agricultural tradition, now strongly linked to the Nola logistics and commercial hub, where town square festivals remain the main moment of collective gathering. Those arriving from outside to accompany children to Santa's Little House will find themselves in an authentically local setting, far from tourist circuits, yet a short distance from destinations like Nola, Mount Vesuvius, and the Neapolitan coast.
The event takes place in the days immediately preceding Christmas, in the afternoon, when dusk makes the square's lights even more enchanting. In 2025, Santa's Little House opened on Saturday, December 20th, starting at 5:00 PM. The holiday calendar for the following December has not yet been released by the Municipality: dates are usually announced in the weeks leading up to Christmas through the entity's official channels and the local press of the Nola and Baiano areas.
For December 2026, there are no official announcements yet regarding Santa's Little House in Tufino. At the time of verification, the Municipality's website only displays administrative notices from the summer, and no Christmas holiday program has been published: this is the normal timeline for a small town, which presents its Christmas schedule a few weeks before the start of the festivities.
The event remains one of the most followed in the town's winter calendar, in the Province of Naples, and is part of the 'Six Villages, A Thousand Stories… Tourism in Campania' project funded by the Campania Region. Before planning your visit, it is advisable to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Tufino (www.comune.tufino.na.it, phone +39 081 8298111) or the entity's Facebook page.
In the previous edition, the format included setting up the house in Piazza Gragnano, meeting Santa Claus, dropping off letters in the special mailbox, and an afternoon of bouncy castles, games, and entertainment for children and families.
Piazza Gragnano, 80030 Tufino (NA), Campania. This is the main square of the town, the same one that hosts summer events and the patron saint festival of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle.
By car: the reference motorway exit is Nola, on the A16 Naples-Canosa, a few kilometers from the center of Tufino; from Naples, you can also travel along the SS 7 bis towards Nola. On festive afternoons, it is advisable to arrive a little early and park in the streets adjacent to the square.
By public transport: the nearest station is Nola on the Circumvesuviana line (EAV), connected to Naples Porta Nolana and Baiano; from there, the connection to Tufino is by bus, using local lines. Check evening schedules before planning your return.
This is a public outdoor event promoted by the Municipality of Tufino and funded as part of a Campania Region project: the local press does not report any tickets or participation fees.
Have the children write their letters before leaving home so they can drop them in Santa's mailbox. Wear warm clothing: the event takes place outdoors, and in the late afternoon in December, the temperature drops rapidly. Before setting off, it is advisable to confirm the date and time, which may vary from year to year.
