The premier spring agricultural and livestock fair of the Canavese region in Favria
The Sant'Isidoro Fair is one of the most cherished spring events in the Municipality of Favria, located in the province of Turin, in the heart of the Piedmontese Canavese. Named after the patron saint of farmers, the fair celebrates the deep bond between the community and its agricultural roots each year, attracting breeders, producers, and visitors from the entire region. Organized by the Municipality of Favria in collaboration with the Farmers' Association and the local branch of Coldiretti, it has become a staple of the Canavese calendar, reaching its 48th edition in 2026.
The heart of the event is the livestock exhibition on Sunday, when the center of Favria fills with over 250 head of cattle: the best Piedmontese bovine breeds, as well as saddle and draft horses, are showcased and awarded before a large crowd. The highlight is the Confronto tra Reines, the traditional Alpine cow-fighting challenge, which reached its 26th edition in 2026 and serves as a qualifier for the Regional Championship. Around eighty 'reines' compete in spectacular matches that keep an ancient and fascinating practice alive.
Throughout the fair, the food pavilion offers local culinary specialties with a different menu every evening: from the appetizer dinner and fried fish to porchetta and sausage, culminating in the grand fair lunch on Sunday. Each evening is accompanied by music and dancing, with DJs and orchestras keeping the party going late into the night, making the fair a true social highlight for the entire community.
Alongside the animals and gastronomy, the fair also hosts an exhibition of agricultural machinery and numerous stands, creating an atmosphere that blends the rural world, craftsmanship, and local products. Considered by organizers to be "a jewel in the crown for Favria," the Sant'Isidoro Fair is much more than entertainment: it is a celebration of the rural identity that the Canavese region proudly preserves. Admission is free, and the event takes place in the town center, easily accessible from Turin and the surrounding areas.
Favria is located in the Canavese area, about 35 km north of Turin. By car, it can be reached via the SP460 del Gran Paradiso. By train, the Favria station is served by the Canavesana railway line (Turin-Rivarolo-Pont). The event takes place in the town center.
Free admission. The food pavilion opens on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings; the livestock exhibition and the Confronto tra Reines take place on Sunday starting at 9:00 AM.
