About Sant'Antonio Festival

The Sant'Antonio Festival is the historic patronal feast of Dro, in the heart of the Garda Trentino area, organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Antonio Dro. Every June, the parish oratory square comes alive for over a week with brass band concerts, dance evenings, ballroom orchestras, DJ sets, children's entertainment, and a bustling food tent where you can savor the festival's signature dish: plum stew made with the prized Susina di Dro DOP. A community celebration that weaves together devotion, local cuisine, and the town's identity.

The patronal feast of Dro in the Garda Trentino

The Sant'Antonio Festival is the most anticipated summer event in Dro, a town in the Sarca Valley in the province of Trento, within the Garda Trentino region. Dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, the event is organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Antonio Dro and transforms the parish oratory square for over a week into a vibrant hub of social life, music, and local traditions.

A tradition spanning over a century

With a history spanning well over a hundred editions, the Sant'Antonio Festival is much more than a patronal feast: it is a collective ritual that strengthens the town's identity and involves volunteers of all generations. The Pro Loco, led by president Sebastiano Matteotti, curates a varied program every year designed for families, young people, and food lovers, with the active participation of local associations.

The signature dish: plum stew with Susina di Dro DOP

The gastronomic heart of the festival is the Trentino flavors tent, where the festival's signature dish is served every year: plum stew, prepared with the renowned Susina di Dro DOP, a product of excellence from the Sarca Valley. It is accompanied by polenta, local farmer's cheese, and plum jam, creating a menu that celebrates the authentic flavors of Trentino-Alto Adige.

Music, dance, and entertainment

The program features a variety of moments throughout the festival:

  • the opening concert by the Banda Sociale Dro-Ceniga with majorettes, conducted by maestro Marco Isacchini;
  • an aperitif and pasta party followed by a DJ set from Radio Retebusa;
  • ballroom dance evenings with orchestras such as Enzo Allegri and Angelo Caravaggio;
  • performances by the Academy of Dance and Ballroom of Dro;
  • events for children, including magic shows, soap bubbles, and balloon sculpting.

Devotion and culture

The convivial atmosphere is complemented by religious moments, such as the Holy Mass in honor of Saint Anthony celebrated in the 18th-century church, and cultural offerings, like the historical-cultural walk dedicated to the bond between Dro, the mountaineer Felice Benuzzi, and Giuseppe Garibaldi, organized in collaboration with the Rete museale del Ledro and the Circolo Ca' del Nemoler. The tombola and the Sant'Antonio lottery round out a program that unites the entire community of Dro.
