The wellness walk that brings the town of Sangano together
The Sangalonga is the wellness walk that brings the small town of Sangano, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, to life every spring at the entrance to the Val Sangone. More than just a simple walk, it is a community event: a non-competitive, free gathering open to everyone, designed to rediscover the pleasure of movement and the beauty of the landscapes surrounding the town. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Sangano in collaboration with the Pro Loco and with the support of the ASL TO3, as part of activities dedicated to promoting health and local walking groups.
The heart of the Sangalonga is an approximately eight-kilometer walk along a path suitable for everyone and immersed in the spring greenery. The meeting point and departure are set in front of the Pagoda on Via San Lorenzo, the event's landmark, where participants gather in the morning to set off together. Children, young people, adults, and seniors walk at the same pace, in a spirit of serenity and sharing that is the true soul of the event.
The Sangalonga hosts numerous local walking groups: in addition to the one from Sangano, walkers arrive from Giaveno, Bruino, Rosta, Trana, Caprie, and other neighboring towns. One of the most delightful traditions is the award for the largest group, which brings a touch of healthy competition and cheer to the event. Participants are invited to wear something yellow, the symbolic color of Sangano, and receive a complimentary gift.
The Sangalonga is part of the walking group project supported by the ASL TO3, which promotes physical activity as a tool for wellness and social interaction throughout the province of Turin. In Sangano, this commitment becomes a town festival that highlights the Val Sangone area, its roads, and its green spaces, strengthening the bond between citizens and neighboring municipalities. A simple and genuine opportunity to be together, move, and enjoy a spring morning in Piedmont at the foot of the Alps.
The walk takes place in spring (the second edition was held on Saturday, April 18, 2026). Meeting at 9:00 AM and departure at 9:30 AM in front of the Pagoda on Via San Lorenzo, with return expected around 11:30 AM.
Sangano is located about 20 km west of Turin, at the entrance to the Val Sangone. By car, it can be reached from the Turin ring road in the direction of Orbassano/Giaveno. The meeting point is the Pagoda on Via San Lorenzo, in the town center.
Participation is free. Registrations are collected by writing to the councilors of the Municipality of Sangano (e.g., [email protected]). Comfortable clothing and something yellow, the town's symbolic color, are recommended.
