About Village of Lovers

For two weeks in February, the granite village of San Piero in Campo, a district of Campo nell'Elba, becomes the Village of Lovers. This cultural and symbolic project spans Piazza La Fonte, Piazza di Chiesa, the Facciatoia, and the medieval church of San Nicolò, celebrating love in all its forms: romantic, communal, historical, spiritual, and deeply rooted in the local territory. With photographic trails, workshops, Aleatico wine tastings, and cultural evenings, San Piero offers a unique, authentic, and poetic Valentine's experience in the heart of the Island of Elba.

San Piero becomes the Village of Lovers

From February 8th to 22nd, the village of San Piero in Campo, one of the most charming districts in the municipality of Campo nell'Elba (Livorno province, Tuscany), transforms into the Village of Lovers. This is not just a simple Valentine's Day celebration, but a cultural, social, and symbolic project that explores love in all its facets: emotional, communal, historical, spiritual, and tied to the landscape. The theme of love intertwines with the granite stone of the characteristic buildings, human bonds, the island's starry sky, and the village's history, offering an authentic and poetic image of San Piero.

A granite village between sea and sky

Nestled on the slopes of Monte Capanne, just a few kilometers from Marina di Campo, San Piero in Campo is famous for its granite quarries, stone houses, and an intimate atmosphere that makes it one of the most iconic spots on the Island of Elba. It is precisely this strong identity that the project aims to highlight, strengthening the community's sense of belonging and collaboration between associations, institutions, and local entities. For two weeks, the village's most recognizable landmarks – Piazza La Fonte, Piazza di Chiesa, the Facciatoia, and the medieval church of San Nicolò – become stages for a choral narrative dedicated to lovers.

Trails, workshops, and tastings

The initiative offers an immersive experience throughout the historic center. Visitors can follow a thematic photographic and symbolic trail, participate in creative workshops and activities designed for children, stop by the 'Sweet Corner', and discover the church of San Nicolò, specially decorated as the 'Place of Lovers'.

  • Photographic and symbolic trail winding through the village streets
  • Children's workshops and the Sweet Corner
  • 'Hearts of Stone' creative workshops, inspired by San Piero's granite
  • Aleatico Point, dedicated to the 'love wine' of the Island of Elba
  • Astronomy evening 'The Lovers' Sky' under the village stars
  • Cultural evenings dedicated to famous love stories born on Elba

Aleatico, the Elban wine of love

One of the most distinctive experiences is the Aleatico Point, where you can taste Aleatico Passito dell'Elba, a deep, sweet wine long associated with festive moments and defined here as 'the wine of love'. It is a tribute to the island's winemaking culture and a way to weave the territory's gastronomic identity into the initiative's central theme.

Dates to remember

The calendar revolves around three key appointments: Saturday, February 8th with the official opening, Friday, February 14th with the celebration of Valentine's Day, and Sunday, February 22nd with the Carnival of Love, the closing event that combines the theme of love with traditional carnival festivities. It is a perfect opportunity to experience the Island of Elba in the off-season, far from the summer crowds, and discover the authenticity of a village that tells its story through its stones and its people.

Village of Lovers — edition 2026

The first edition of San Piero, the Village of Lovers took place from February 8th to 22nd, 2026, transforming the village of San Piero in Campo into an immersive trail dedicated to love. Spanning Piazza La Fonte, Piazza di Chiesa, the Facciatoia, and the church of San Nicolò, the initiative featured installations, workshops, Aleatico tastings, and cultural evenings, with three highlights: the opening, Valentine's Day, and the Carnival of Love.
