Three days of sport, music, and celebration at the Francone Velodrome in San Francesco al Campo
The historic Comm. P. Francone Municipal Velodrome in San Francesco al Campo, in the province of Turin, hosts a major new summer event: SAN(FRA) SPORT&PARTY. Following the success of the Horse Festival, this sports facility in the heart of the Canavese area reinvents itself for three days, turning into a large village filled with challenges, shows, and conviviality, where the public is not just a spectator but a true protagonist.
The event blends different spirits: sport, with tournaments and demonstrations open to everyone; gastronomy, thanks to a food stand serving traditional Piedmontese dishes; and entertainment, featuring live music and evenings dedicated to rock'n'roll. It is a formula designed to engage families, young people, and enthusiasts alike, bringing the atmosphere of the best village festivals back to the Francone Velodrome.
The competitive heart of the festival is the Palio dei Borghi, which pits the town's districts against each other in spectacular and lighthearted trials, ranging from bocce to more scenic challenges like the mechanical bull. Alongside the Palio, there are sports tournaments, demonstrations by local associations, and moments designed for audiences of all ages. The participation of local entities—Pro Loco, sports clubs, and volunteer groups—gives the event a strong sense of community.
Located in the Canavese region, north of Turin, San Francesco al Campo is known for its Velodrome, one of the most important track cycling facilities in Piedmont, which hosts major national competitions and championships. With SAN(FRA) SPORT&PARTY, the facility opens its doors to a popular festival that combines the town's sporting vocation with the pleasure of being together, confirming the Velodrome as a landmark for the community's social life.
The inaugural edition of SAN(FRA) SPORT&PARTY enlivened the Francone Velodrome from June 6 to 8, 2026, right after the Horse Festival. Three days packed with events transformed the facility into a large festival village, with the public invited to participate firsthand.
Among the highlights was the Palio dei Borghi, with the town's districts competing in events like bocce and the mechanical bull, alongside sports tournaments and demonstrations by local associations. There was no shortage of entertainment and music, with evenings dedicated to rock'n'roll and a food stand serving traditional Piedmontese dishes.
