Street artists, music, and nature in the hillside village of San Carlo
The San Carlo Buskers Festival is the event that, every spring, brings the hillside village of San Carlo to lifeโa hamlet in the municipality of San Vincenzo in the province of Livorno, in the heart of the Val di Cornia. For an entire weekend, the village streets, the pine forest, and the green spaces turn into a widespread open-air stage, where street artists (the buskers, from which the festival takes its name) are the true protagonists.
Established in 2023, the event has quickly become a highly anticipated date that effectively inaugurates the tourist season on the Tuscan coast, attracting families and curious visitors from all over Tuscany and beyond.
The formula blends different genres and languages, with a program that spans live music, theater, dance, painting, photography, and nature excursions. Recurring features include:
The festival is organized by the Municipality of San Vincenzo, coordinated by the "G. Calandra" municipal library, and under the artistic direction of Veronica Papi, in collaboration with local associations. Admission is free, and to facilitate access to the hillside village, a free shuttle service is available departing from the Cittadella in San Vincenzo.
The San Carlo Buskers Festival is the ideal opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of Tuscany, far from mass tourism, combining the magic of street art with the charm of the Mediterranean scrub and the Etruscan Coast.
The fourth edition of the San Carlo Buskers Festival returned on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the hillside village of San Carlo, a hamlet of San Vincenzo (LI). Two days dedicated to street art, with performances, concerts, craft markets, street food, and workshops for all ages, set in the green surroundings of the pine forest.
As in previous editions, admission was free, with a free shuttle service from the Cittadella of San Vincenzo, under the artistic direction of Veronica Papi and the coordination of the Municipality of San Vincenzo.
Street food was available throughout the festival, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
San Carlo is a hillside hamlet of San Vincenzo (LI). By car, it can be reached via the SS1 Aurelia, San Vincenzo exit. By train, the reference station is San Vincenzo, on the RomeโGenoa Tyrrhenian line.
During the festival, a free shuttle service operates from the Cittadella (via Sandro Pertini area) to reach the village of San Carlo, where traffic is restricted.
Admission to the festival and all performances is free. Many street artists perform "a cappello," relying on voluntary contributions from the audience.
Updates on the program are available on the official Facebook and Instagram channels "San Carlo Buskers Festival" and on the website of the Municipality of San Vincenzo.
