In the heart of the Tuscan summer, Monteverdi Marittimo becomes one of the stages for the Musicastrada Festival, a widespread, traveling event that has been crossing the villages of the Pisa province for over twenty years. Promoted by the Musicastrada Association, it is considered a unique boutique festival in Italy: music is not consumed in a large, anonymous space, but becomes a shared experience in extraordinary, limited-capacity locations, at sunset or by night, in an atmosphere where the distance between performer and listener disappears.

Piazza della Chiesa, the stage under the stars

The stop takes place in Piazza della Chiesa, in the historic center of Monteverdi Marittimo, a small town in the Province of Pisa nestled in the Colline Metallifere, on the border with the Maremma and the province of Livorno. The village, of ancient medieval origin and linked to the figure of San Guido della Gherardesca, retains a quiet, collected atmosphere that perfectly matches the festival's philosophy: listening to music in an authentic setting, away from the mainstream circuits, immersed in the Tuscan landscape.

The 2026 edition: Nada and Lamante

For the 27th edition of the festival, scheduled from July 10th to August 2nd, 2026, in numerous villages across the province of Pisa, Monteverdi Marittimo hosts a concert on Thursday, July 30th at 9:00 PM that brings together two generations of Italian songwriting: Nada, one of the freest and most recognizable voices in Italian music, and Lamante, a singer-songwriter from the new scene. An encounter designed to share the intensity of two different artistic paths meeting on the same stage, within the intimate setting of the village square.

A festival with a social focus

Musicastrada is about more than just music and scenery. The 2026 edition launches the "suspended ticket" project, created in collaboration with the Arnera Social Cooperative of Pontedera: those who wish can purchase an extra ticket and leave it "suspended" for someone experiencing economic hardship, ensuring culture is increasingly accessible and inclusive. The festival, which confirms itself as one of the most original musical offerings in Tuscany, is supported by the Tuscany Region, the Ministry of Culture, and local Pisan institutions, among others.
