The grand market fair on Viale della Vittoria accompanying the celebrations of Agrigento's Black Saint, featuring Sicilian crafts, local products, and illuminated wooden stalls.
The San Calogero Fair is the commercial and popular event that has always accompanied the celebrations of the Black Saint, co-patron of Agrigento, in southwestern Sicily. While intertwined with the religious dimension of the Feast of San Calogero, the fair is managed as a distinct exhibition event, regulated annually by a public call from the Municipality of Agrigento, and represents one of the most anticipated moments of the city's summer, attracting thousands of visitors from across the province to Agrigento.
Starting with the 2026 edition, the fair undergoes a profound format change. Instead of traditional stalls, characteristic wooden cabins (or similar temporary structures) decorated with lights arrive, designed to give the event a more polished and uniform appearance. The cabins must be floor-standing, with maximum dimensions of 3x2 meters on the north side of Viale della Vittoria and at Porta di Ponte, and 3x1.50 meters on the south side, complete with certifications regarding electrical system compliance and fire-retardant material characteristics.
The new geographical layout clearly separates product categories. The north side of Viale della Vittoria primarily hosts crafts, artistic works, and independent artisans; the south side permits packaged food products and gourmet specialties, excluding street food. Clothing and footwear are excluded to distinguish the fair from classic street markets and prioritize quality Sicilian artisans, creatives, and producers.
The fair unfolds along Viale della Vittoria (north and south sides up to Curva Coniglio), at Porta di Ponte, and at Villa Bonfiglio. The latter area is dedicated to family attractions, stands, small entertainment structures, and food trucks, becoming the reference point for children and those looking for a moment of leisure during their stroll. Porta di Ponte hosts selected operators and associations.
Beyond its commercial value, the Municipality of Agrigento focuses on the fair as a tool for the cultural, tourist, and economic enhancement of the Agrigento province and all of Sicily. The fair remains one of the most defining events of the Agrigento summer, capable of uniting popular devotion to San Calogero, the tradition of street commerce, and the promotion of Sicilian artisan and gastronomic excellence.
The San Calogero Fair 2026 takes place in Agrigento from July 3 to 12, coinciding with the first two Sundays of July dedicated to the celebrations of the Black Saint. The event enlivens Viale della Vittoria, Porta di Ponte, and Villa Bonfiglio.
For 2026, the Municipality of Agrigento has introduced illuminated wooden cabins instead of traditional stalls: crafts and artistic works on the north side of Viale della Vittoria, packaged typical Sicilian products on the south side (excluding street food), and family attractions and food trucks at Villa Bonfiglio. Participation applications must be submitted via PEC by June 23, 2026.
The fair regulations are defined in detail, but the full official calendar of San Calogero festivities has not yet been published by the Municipality. This page will be updated upon the release of the final program.
