The patronal feast of Lusernetta, featuring Alpine troops, literature, music, and the flavors of Val Pellice
In the heart of Val Pellice, in the Province of Turin, the small town of Lusernetta celebrates the San Bernardino Festival every year, dedicated to the patron saint who also gives his name to the village's historic chapel. For three days in early June, the community gathers around the PalaProLoco and the town square, behind the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, for an event that blends devotion, culture, and conviviality.
The Lusernetta event is more than just a food festival: it is a community celebration that mixes various themes. From book presentations and cultural meetings to choral concerts, musical evenings, and nature walks through the village's trails and hamlets, there is something for everyone. The event also features activities for children and animals, a traditional market, and community dinners that serve as the glue for the entire celebration.
A particularly heartfelt theme is the bond with the Lusernetta Alpine Group. The festival is an opportunity to pay tribute to the "penne nere" (Alpine soldiers), featuring a parade by the ANA Marching Band, the flag-raising ceremony, the laying of a wreath at the War Memorial, and official ceremonies such as the naming of public spaces and the granting of honorary citizenship. It is a moment where the historical memory of the territory merges with the festivities.
Like any respectable Piedmontese patronal feast, the table plays a central role in Lusernetta. With ribs, sausages, grilled meats, porchetta, and the famous Spring Lunch, the Pro Loco offers visitors simple, genuine traditional cuisine, often available by reservation. The San Bernardino Festival is thus an excellent opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Val Pellice and the hospitality of a village that lives its identity with pride.
The 2026 San Bernardino Festival in Lusernetta, in the Province of Turin, was spread over three days packed with events, with special attention given to the local Alpine Group, honored through ceremonies and official dedications. Culture, nature, music, and conviviality alternated between the PalaProLoco, the town square, and the San Bernardino chapel.
Events take place mainly at the PalaProLoco and in the town square of Lusernetta (via Bibiana), behind the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, as well as at the San Bernardino chapel and along the village trails.
