The patronal feast of Daone in Val del Chiese
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Bartolomeo Festival is the most anticipated event of the summer in Daone, a village in the municipality of Valdaone, located in the Val del Chiese, the southwestern corner of the Province of Trento bordering Lombardy. The festival is dedicated to Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, the patron saint of the village, celebrated on August 24th. The community gathers around this date for a full weekend of festivities, typically held on the weekend closest to the saint's day.
The heart of the event is the sports field near the nursery school in Daone, which transforms into a lively open-air plaza for two days. The program blends traditional religious observances—such as the Holy Mass and the procession accompanied by the local band—with popular entertainment: ballroom dance orchestras, late-night dance parties, DJ sets for younger crowds, and freshly cooked specialties like wood-fired pizza and the quintessential polenta carbonera, a signature dish of Trentino mountain cuisine.
The festival doesn't forget the little ones: treasure hunts through the village streets, face painting, games, baby dance, and the chance to try zip-lining with alpine guides are among the activities that bring Sunday afternoon to life. It is an authentic village festival, organized with passion by the volunteers of the Pro Loco Daone, where the hospitality and sense of community of the Val del Chiese can be felt at every moment.
Daone is located just a few kilometers from Pieve di Bono-Prezzo and the shores of Lake Idro, immersed in a rugged and fascinating landscape of mountain pastures, forests, and large reservoirs, at the gateway to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park. The festival is an excellent opportunity to discover this lesser-known corner of the Trentino-Alto Adige region.
Dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition of the San Bartolomeo Festival in Daone (Valdaone) have not yet been published. The patronal feast usually takes place in August, near the feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle (August 24th), following the traditional two-day format: dance evenings with ballroom orchestras, DJ sets, food stands serving wood-fired pizza and polenta carbonera, as well as Holy Mass, a procession, and activities for children. Updates will be communicated by the Pro Loco Daone.
