The summer festival of the Saliceto hamlet, at the Strada Boschi roundabout
The Saliceto Festival is the summer celebration of the Saliceto hamlet, a small village in the municipality of Pocapaglia, in the province of Cuneo, located in the hilly Roero territory (Piedmont). It is one of those local festivals that are part of the DNA of small Piedmontese towns: no big names, no international stages, just a community wanting to come together, share a meal, and keep the identity of their village alive.
The heart of the event is the Strada Boschi roundabout, near the Saliceto bridge, which transforms into an open-air square and kitchen for three days. The festival traditionally takes place on the last weekend of July and is included in the official calendar of events for the Municipality of Pocapaglia, approved by the Council of Hamlets and Associations.
The program changes slightly from year to year, but the spirit remains the same. The evenings revolve around good food and music:
Behind the Saliceto Festival is the volunteer work of the Saliceto Recreational Committee, which handles the organization, cooking, and hospitality every year. It is thanks to this enthusiasm that the festival continues even when the weather doesn't cooperate: as in the 2025 edition, when the rain didn't stop the turnout and the warmth of the community heated up the atmosphere anyway. For those visiting the Roero in summer, between a walk in the Rocche and a wine tasting, the Saliceto Festival is an authentic opportunity to experience the conviviality of a true Piedmontese village.
The 2026 Saliceto Festival will take place from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26, 2026 in the Saliceto hamlet of Pocapaglia, at the Strada Boschi roundabout. The dates are included in the official 2026 calendar of events for the Municipality of Pocapaglia, approved by the Council of Hamlets and Associations.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Saliceto Recreational Committee in the weeks leading up to the event. Following the tradition of past editions, evenings of street food, the traditional pizza at the roundabout by reservation, craft beer, music, and moments dedicated to children with games and snacks are expected. It is recommended to check the procedures and reservations closer to the dates.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published by the Saliceto Recreational Committee.
Based on previous editions, the festival typically spans three days at the Strada Boschi roundabout: an opening evening with street food, gelato, cocktails, and music; an evening dedicated to pizza at the roundabout or a dinner by reservation; and a final day with games and snacks for children. The exact times and appointments will be communicated before the event.
The hamlet of Saliceto is located in Pocapaglia (CN), in the Roero region. By car, it is easily reached from Bra (a few kilometers away) and Alba; the nearest train stations are in Bra and Alba, which are well-connected to Turin. The festival takes place at the Strada Boschi roundabout.
Admission to the festival is free; you only pay for what you consume. Evenings with dinner or pizza are generally by mandatory reservation, which must be made in the days prior by contacting the Saliceto Recreational Committee.
Bring clothing suitable for summer evenings outdoors and book your meals in advance. Take advantage of your stay to explore the Roero, its hills, and its wines.
