About Duracina Cherry Festival

At the end of June, around the feast of the patron saint Saint Peter, Tarcento celebrates one of the oldest village festivals in Friuli at Parco del Torre. The star is the Duracina cherry of Coia, a typical local fruit, accompanied by the prized Ramandolo wine. Ten days of food and wine stalls, barbecues, music and dance evenings, a fun run, charity raffle, and the characteristic Sunday market of local products.

The cherry festival in the foothills

When the cherries ripen on the hills of Coia, it's time for celebration in Tarcento. The Saint Peter and Duracina Cherry Festival, held at the Parco del Torre, is one of the oldest village fairs in Friuli: it originated centuries ago as an important commercial event for the communities of the Torre Valleys, precisely during the Duracina cherry harvest season.

Between the patron saint and the fruit

The event, organized by Pro Tarcento, combines two aspects: the religious celebration of the patron saint Saint Peter (June 29th) and the promotion of the Duracina cherry of Coia, a local variety with firm, crunchy flesh, which also gives its name to the "Tarcentino" fruit. Alongside the cherries, the other great star is Ramandolo, the famous Friulian sweet wine produced on the nearby hills.

Ten days of celebration

The festival lasts for about ten days, with a program full of food and entertainment:

  • Stalls and barbecues every evening, with service also for Sunday lunch
  • Music and dance evenings with ballroom orchestras and live bands
  • Fun run with 6 km and 13 km routes
  • Charity raffle and bouncy castles for children
  • Sunday market of local products along the town's streets

Tarcento and the Torre Valleys

The festival is the ideal opportunity to discover Tarcento, the "pearl of Friuli," and its territory of hills, vineyards, and villages. A walk in the Parco del Torre, along the river of the same name, completes the experience of a festival that smells of summer and tradition.

Duracina Cherry Festival — edition 2026

The Saint Peter and Duracina Cherry Festival will return to Tarcento at the end of June 2026, around the feast of the patron saint Saint Peter (June 29th). Ten days of stalls, barbecues, music evenings, a fun run, and the market of local products at Parco del Torre. The exact dates will be confirmed by Pro Tarcento.

In 2026, the Parco del Torre in Tarcento will once again host the historic festival of the patron saint Saint Peter and the Duracina cherry of Coia. The event will take place, as tradition dictates, around the last weekend of June, with the usual formula: stalls and barbecues every evening, music and dance evenings, a fun run, a charity raffle, and the Sunday market of local products, with cherries and Ramandolo in the lead.

Programme Duracina Cherry Festival 2026

The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by Pro Tarcento in the weeks leading up to the event. Based on recent editions, the festival is structured as follows:

  • On Sundays — morning fun run (6 km and 13 km routes), festive lunch, and market of local products along the town's streets
