About Saint Martin in Fanna

Every November, Fanna, a small village in the foothills of Pordenone, celebrates its patron saint, Saint Martin, with one of the most beloved autumn festivals in western Friuli. For over three weeks, under the large heated marquee in Via Bruni, spit-roast, chestnuts, mulled wine, live music, theatre in Friulian, and moments of solidarity take place, in a genuine and welcoming village atmosphere.

A Village Festival with an Autumn Scent

When the leaves turn yellow at the foot of the Carnic Prealps, Fanna gathers around its patron saint to bring the Saint Martin's Festival to life, an event that has marked the autumn of this small municipality in the province of Pordenone for decades. It's one of those festivals that tell the soul of rural Friuli: unpretentious, substantial, and with an entire community rolling up its sleeves to welcome visitors.

Spit-Roast, Rabbit, and Traditional Flavors

The heart of the festival is gastronomic. Under the heated marquee in the celebration area of Via Bruni, the stands managed by Pro Loco Fanna offer the specialties that have made the event famous: spit-roast pork ribs and spit-roast rabbit, slow-cooked according to tradition, accompanied by polenta, minestrone, chestnuts, and mulled wine. Local wines and 'cicchetti' (small snacks) from the 'frasca' (local tavern) are also available, perfect for warming up November evenings.

Music, Theatre, and Fun for Everyone

Alongside the food, the program includes live music and DJ sets, theatre in the Friulian language, cultural exhibitions, card tournaments, and table football. For the little ones, there are creative workshops, dancing, and dedicated activities, while the weekend comes alive with market stalls and food and craft stands. Among the most heartfelt events is the charity walk, which combines sport, health, and fundraising.

A Village to Discover

The festival is also an opportunity to discover Fanna and its territory, nestled between Monte Raut and the Meduna river, a stone's throw from Maniago and the Friulian Dolomites. The festival is promoted by Pro Loco Fanna APS with the support of the Municipality of Fanna and numerous local associations, in an example of volunteerism that keeps the community alive.

Saint Martin in Fanna — edition 2026

The Saint Martin's Festival returns to Fanna in November 2026 with the usual program of spit-roast, chestnuts, music, and Friulian tradition, under the heated marquee in Via Bruni. Dates and detailed schedule to be defined by Pro Loco Fanna.

The 2026 edition of the Saint Martin's Festival is expected in November, coinciding with the patron saint's day (November 11th), following the tried-and-tested format that spreads events over several weekends. The culinary highlights are confirmed — spit-roast pork ribs and rabbit, chestnuts, and mulled wine — along with live music, theatre in Friulian, tournaments, and activities for families and children.
