About Polentone Festival

At the end of August, the hamlet of Acquabuona, in Tiglieto, celebrates a double traditional event: the Feast of Saint Gottardo and the Polentone Festival. An event with over seventy years of history, culminating on the last Monday of the month with the cooking and distribution of polentone, served with stew or fondue. With community dinners, an orchestra, dancing, and charity events, it is one of the most beloved festivals in the Genoese hinterland, in the heart of the green Beigua Park and the Orba valley.

A Tradition of Over Seventy Years

The Feast of Saint Gottardo and Polentone Festival is the traditional event that closes the summer in the hamlet of Acquabuona, in the municipality of Tiglieto (Metropolitan City of Genoa), on the edge of the Beigua Park. The polentone festival has surpassed seventy editions, a sign of a deep connection with the local community.

Saint Gottardo and Polentone

The festival unfolds over several days. Saturday evening is dedicated to the Feast of Saint Gottardo, with a dinner featuring ravioli, an orchestra, and dancing. The most anticipated moment arrives on the last Monday of August with the Polentone Festival: the large pot is put on the fire in the afternoon, and the polentone, served with stew or fondue, is distributed starting in the evening.

Community and Charity

Organized by P.A. Croce Bianca and the Pro Loco with the Acquabuona Association, the festival combines conviviality and solidarity: part of the proceeds is donated to charity. With an orchestra, dancing, and traditional dishes, it is one of the most genuine festivals in the Genoese hinterland, immersed in the greenery of the Orba valley.
