The Cipressi district festival blending faith, tradition, and live music
The Saint Anthony Abbot Festival at Cipressi is the most anticipated summer event for the Cipressi district, a small hamlet of Città Sant'Angelo, nestled in the hills of the Pescara province in Abruzzo. Every year, towards the end of June, the Villa Cipressi community gathers around its church to honor the patron saint with three days of celebrations that combine religious observance with social and convivial activities.
The spiritual heart of the festival is marked by holy masses celebrated each evening and the solemn procession through the district streets, accompanied by the APS G. Rossini band from Elice. It is a moment when the community unites around its saint, in a devotional tradition passed down through generations, representing one of the most deeply felt identity events in the area.
Alongside the religious aspect, the festival offers a rich secular program. Every evening, food stands open, allowing visitors to savor traditional Abruzzese dishes in a cheerful village atmosphere. Dance evenings with liscio orchestras get everyone moving under the stars, while musical shows featuring bands playing the greatest hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s are also on the agenda.
The Saint Anthony Abbot Festival at Cipressi is designed for all ages. Children find their space in magic shows and dedicated entertainment, while tradition enthusiasts can test their skills in the unmissable briscola tournaments. The atmosphere is that of a genuine district festival, where everyone knows each other and hospitality is second nature.
Part of the Summer in Città Sant'Angelo calendar, the Villa Cipressi festival is one of the many district celebrations that enliven the municipality during the summer months. It is organized by the Parish Festival Committee of Saint Anthony Abbot of Villa Cipressi, which prepares the program every year with the participation of the entire community. Admission is free, making it the perfect opportunity to discover authentic Abruzzese hospitality far from the crowded tourist circuits.
