Traditional fish and fried dishes at the Fratellanza Quilianese
In Quiliano, a town in the hinterland of the province of Savona, the Sagra Muscoli e Totani is organised by the historic A.P.S. SMS Fratellanza Quilianese, a mutual aid society founded in 1885. The festival is one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of early summer, dedicated to the traditional flavours of Ligurian seafood.
The menu features fried squid, prawns and grilled swordfish, while Saturday features the typical buridda di stoccafisso (fish stew), a dish from traditional Ligurian peasant cuisine. The 'muscoli' (mussels, as they are called in Liguria) complete a simple and genuine offering, prepared with care by the society's volunteers.
The Fratellanza Quilianese is one of the most deeply rooted associative realities in the area, and the festival represents one of its most important gathering moments. The covered space ensures the event can take place even in bad weather, making it a reliable fixture in the Savona festival calendar.
For 2026, the Sagra Muscoli e Totani is scheduled from Friday, June 12 to Sunday, June 14, at Via Porcile 2r in Quiliano, organized by the SMS Fratellanza Quilianese, which is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2026 (founded in 1885). The menu offers fried squid, prawns, and grilled swordfish; on Saturday, also fish stew. Opening on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sunday at 12:30 PM, with ample covered space.
By car: A10 Savona or Vado Ligure exit, then towards Quiliano (Via Porcile 2r). By train: Savona station, then bus towards the hinterland.
Friday and Saturday opening at 7:30 PM, Sunday at 12:30 PM. Covered area; food and drinks at the stands.
