This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Sagra di la Miennula Camastrisa is a festival that the Municipality of Camastra dedicates to the almond, known as miennula in the local Sicilian dialect. The event takes place in the town's historic center, in Piazza Garibaldi, and highlights one of the iconic fruits of Sicily's agricultural and culinary heritage. Camastra is a small town in the Province of Agrigento, in the heart of Sicily, and this event aims to celebrate its deep-rooted rural traditions.
The evening features exhibition stands dedicated to almonds and free tastings of local delicacies made with this precious ingredient, ranging from pastries to traditional recipes. Beyond the culinary aspect, the festival focuses on education: experts share the nutritional qualities and commercial potential of almonds with the public, promoting the region and its typical products.
The festival was conceived by the municipal administration led by Mayor Dario Gaglio, with the goal of providing Camastra with an identity-building event that bridges culture, agriculture, and social life. The event is organized by the Municipality of Camastra with the support of the Regional Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fisheries, reflecting the Sicilian Region's commitment to smaller agri-food supply chains.
Designed as a summer gathering, the Sagra di la Miennula brings the Agrigento village to life with a closing musical performance and a convivial atmosphere, centered on taste and the rediscovery of local traditions. Admission is free, and the event is open to residents and visitors alike who wish to discover an authentic corner of inland Sicily.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizers: historically, the festival is held in the month of July.
