In Casale di Albino, a hamlet of the Municipality of Albino in the province of Bergamo, autumn brings an eagerly awaited festival: the Sagra delle Boröle. 'Boröle', in the local dialect, are chestnuts roasted on the grill — 'caldarroste' — and this day of conviviality, which recalls the peasant identity of Val Seriana, revolves around this forest fruit.
Lunch and afternoon in good company
The day begins with a typical lunch featuring 'scarpinocc' (the famous Bergamasco ravioli), mixed grill, polenta, local salami, and cheeses. In the afternoon, the stars of the show arrive: roasted 'boröle', accompanied by homemade cakes, a bar service, and plenty of music, with ballroom and group dancing animating the village's sports field.
A community festival
The festival is organized by the Parish of the Sacred Heart in collaboration with the Gruppo Amici di Casale, the same entities that animate the hamlet's community life. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense: created to bring people together, raise funds for the community, and pass on the taste of autumn traditions from the Bergamo region.
Sagra delle Boröle — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Sagra delle Boröle is anticipated in the usual autumn period, tentatively in the first half of October, according to the tradition that sees the Casale di Albino chestnut festival animate the autumn Sundays of Val Seriana.
The program, once confirmed, will re-propose the tried-and-tested formula: a typical Bergamasco lunch at midday and an afternoon with roasted chestnuts, cakes, a bar, and dance music. The precise date will be announced by the Parish of the Sacred Heart and the Gruppo Amici di Casale.

How to get there
Casale is a hillside hamlet of Albino, reachable by car. The meeting point is the sports field at Via Ansuino Abate 34. Albino is connected to Bergamo by the Valleys tram (line T2).
