The village of Rosciate celebrates Italy's smallest and most precious passito wine
The Festa del Moscato di Scanzo e dei Sapori Scanzesi celebrates Moscato di Scanzo DOCG in Scanzorosciate, province of Bergamo. This red passito wine is produced in a tiny area and is considered one of Italy's most prized and rare wines. The event takes place in the charming village of Rosciate, which for a few days becomes the culinary capital of the Bergamo region.
The heart of the festival lies in the tastings and workshops dedicated to Moscato di Scanzo, allowing visitors to sample different vintages of the passito and discover perfect pairings: from Orobic cheeses to local cured meats, and even chocolate. Alongside the Moscato, the village offers a selection of authentic local flavours: wines, craft beers, spirits, extra virgin olive oil, honey, cheeses, jams, and traditional dishes.
This event is not just for connoisseurs; the program also includes initiatives for families, featuring bouncy castles, creative workshops, traditional games, puppet shows, and pony rides. Music and entertainment accompany the evenings, making the festival a meeting point for all ages, immersed in the village's atmosphere.
The festival is just the beginning of the Settembre del Moscato di Scanzo (September of Moscato di Scanzo): on the following weekends, open cellars allow visitors to extend the experience by visiting local producers and tasting the passito right at its source. For Scanzorosciate and the entire province of Bergamo, this event is a showcase of excellence that highlights a unique winemaking heritage in Italy.
The 2026 edition of the Festa del Moscato di Scanzo will take place from September 5th to 8th in the village of Rosciate. Four days dedicated to Moscato di Scanzo DOCG, featuring tastings, workshops, and pairings, as well as local wines, craft beers, spirits, oil, honey, cheeses, and typical dishes. There will also be activities for families and entertainment. The Settembre del Moscato (September of Moscato) will continue with open cellars on the following weekends.
