The symbolic dish of Mantuan cuisine in celebration
The Sagra del Tortello di Zucca e dei Sapori Autunnali celebrates in Rivarolo Mantovano, in the province of Mantua, one of the most representative dishes of the local culinary tradition: pumpkin tortelli. Prepared by hand by the risdore, the cooks who are custodians of ancient Mantuan gastronomic knowledge, it is the absolute protagonist of a festival that smells of autumn.
The tortelli are offered in four different seasoning variations: the 'classic' with melted butter, the 'red' with tomato, the 'tasty' with mustard and amaretti โ in the typical Mantuan sweet and sour balance โ and the 'extravagant' with dark chocolate shavings. The food stalls, open for dinner and also for lunch on Sundays, allow you to savour this dish in all its variations, in covered areas.
The festival is also an occasion for widespread celebration: the programme includes a wine tasting route in collaboration with the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori Mantovani (Mantuan Wine and Flavours Route), a rich food and wine market, entertainment shows, traditional games, and moments dedicated to adults and children. The event, organised by the Pro Loco (local tourist board), promotes autumn flavours and the gastronomic identity of Rivarolo Mantovano, attracting visitors from all over the province and neighbouring areas.
The Sagra del Tortello di Zucca e dei Sapori Autunnali returns to Rivarolo Mantovano in autumn 2026, following the tradition of being held on the second weekend of October. The star is the pumpkin tortelli, handmade by local risdore in its four seasoning variations.
The food stalls, open for dinner and also for lunch on Sundays in covered areas, offer the 'classic' dish with melted butter, the 'red' with tomato, the 'tasty' with mustard and amaretti, and the 'extravagant' with chocolate shavings. The programme also includes a wine tasting route with the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori Mantovani, the food and wine market, shows, traditional games, and the Gin & Sound area.

Rivarolo Mantovano is located in the Mantuan plain, on the border with the Cremona area, reachable by car from Casalmaggiore and Viadana. The festival takes place in the town centre, with stalls in covered areas.
Admission is free; food and drinks are paid for at the food stalls. The stalls are open for dinner from 7 PM and on Sundays also for lunch from 12 PM. For the programme, it is advisable to follow the Pro Loco of Rivarolo Mantovano's channels.
