The Sagra del Marubino in Casteldidone, a municipality in the Province of Cremona, celebrates one of the symbolic dishes of the area: the marubino, a small egg pasta raviolo filled with meat. Traditionally served in broth (often the 'three-meat broth') or with butter and sage, it is a preparation that tells the gastronomic history of the Bassa cremonese. The sagra makes it the absolute star, in a festival that in 2026 reaches its twentieth edition.
What makes this sagra special is its authenticity: the marubini are prepared by hand by the town's housewives, according to the ancient recipe passed down from generation to generation. Alongside the star dish, the menu offers mixed boiled meats, Cremonese cured meats, sbrisolona cake and local wines, for a complete journey into Cremonese gastronomic tradition.
The Sagra del Marubino is not just about gastronomy: the program includes popular music, folk performances, village games and exhibitions dedicated to peasant culture. It is the typical formula of a village festival in the Bassa padana, where good food is accompanied by conviviality and the rediscovery of local traditions.
Organized by the Pro Loco Casteldidone, the sagra is the main event of the year for this small town in the Cremasco-Casalasco area. For visitors, it is an opportunity to taste marubini made as they used to be, in a genuine and welcoming setting, far from mass tourist circuits.
