Missoltino, the gastronomic soul of Lake Como

The Sagra del Missoltino di Mezzegra is one of the most established festivals on Lake Como. It takes place in Mezzegra, a hamlet of the municipality of Tremezzina, in the province of Como, and revolves around a product that tells centuries of lake culture: missoltino. It is the agone, a lake fish, dried in the sun, salted and pressed in traditional tins (the "misolte"), from which it takes its name. Served grilled with polenta, it is one of the symbolic dishes of Lario cuisine.

A Sixty-Year-Old Village Festival

Organised by Pro Loco Mezzegra, the festival is held at the Parco Comunale of Mezzegra, in Via Provinciale Regina, on a summer evening. In 2025, the event celebrated its sixtieth edition: a milestone that testifies to the strong bond between the community and this gastronomic tradition. The evening combines the tasting of missoltini with polenta, the food stand, and the convivial atmosphere typical of lakeside village festivals.

Tradition and Territory

The festival is also an opportunity to rediscover the village of Mezzegra and the charm of the western shore of Lake Como, with its historic villas, olive groves, and lake views. An event that enhances the local culture through food, keeping alive an ancient processing method and a flavour that belongs to the identity of the Lario region.
