The Sagra di San Lorenzo in Nesso
San Lorenzo is the patron saint of Nesso, a charming village in the province of Como perched on the eastern shore of Lake Como, famous for its gorge and the waterfall that plunges between the houses. Every year, on the night of August 10th – the night of San Lorenzo – the Pro Loco (local tourist board) organises the festival in honour of the saint.
Flavours of the Lario
The heart of the festival is the table: the kitchen opens in the evening, around 7:30 PM, with typical Larian traditional dishes. Don't miss the polenta uncia, polenta seasoned with butter and cheese, and the missoltini, dried lake fish preserved according to an ancient recipe, a symbol of Como's gastronomy. The village comes alive with stalls and convivial moments in the alleys overlooking the water.
Fireworks on the Lake
Among the most anticipated moments is the fireworks display that illuminates the lake, traditionally on August 11th, offering attendees the magic of fireworks reflected on the water. For the Municipality of Nesso and the Province of Como, the Sagra di San Lorenzo is an identity event that combines devotion, gastronomy, and landscape in one of the most scenic settings on the Lario.

How to get there
Nesso is located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, along the SS583 Lariana which connects Como to Bellagio. It is reachable by car and bus; in summer, access to the village may be regulated, so it is advisable to check available parking.
