One of the oldest festivals in the Spezia area, in the woods of Alta Val di Vara
The Sagra del Fungo Porcino di Tavarone is one of the longest-running gastronomic festivals in the province of La Spezia. It takes place in Tavarone, a hamlet of the municipality of Maissana, in the woods of Alta Val di Vara, an area particularly suited to porcino mushroom foraging.
With over fifty years of history, the festival is an eagerly awaited end-of-summer event. The porcino mushroom is the absolute star of the menu, prepared according to traditional recipes and served at evening dinners and Sunday lunches, in an authentic and convivial atmosphere.
In recent years, the event has also received the patronage of the Liguria Region, confirming its value. The Sagra del Fungo di Tavarone is much more than a gastronomic event: it is an opportunity to discover an unspoiled corner of the Spezia hinterland, amidst woods, trails, and the warm hospitality of a small village in the Ligurian Apennines.
The 2026 edition of the Sagra del Fungo Porcino di Tavarone renews the end-of-summer appointment in the hamlet of Maissana, in the woods of Alta Val di Vara. The porcino mushroom is the star of the menu, served at evening dinners and Sunday lunches.
The festival, one of the oldest in the province of La Spezia, continues a tradition of over half a century. The precise dates will be announced in the weeks preceding the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced in the weeks preceding the event. The festival will follow tradition, with the opening of the gastronomic stand in the evening (dinner from around 7:30 PM) and Sunday lunch, featuring porcini mushroom dishes prepared according to local recipes.
