The market exhibition of garden produce in the Val di Vara
In Pignone, a village in the hinterland of the province of La Spezia, the market exhibition Gli Orti di Pignone celebrates the fruits of the earth. Organised by the Pro Loco Pignone, the event brings together local producers from the Val di Vara and the coast, promoting small-scale but high-quality agriculture.
The stalls offer seasonal vegetables, honey, cheeses, oil, wine, potatoes, beans, corn flour, onions, and chestnut flour, all guaranteed by a specification that ensures their quality and origin. Alongside the produce, stands offer traditional local peasant dishes.
Pignone is strategically located between the Cinque Terre and the Val di Vara, in a territory where terraced agriculture and garden produce have always had an identity value. The event, included among the Authentic Ligurian Events, is an opportunity to discover an authentic hinterland just a few kilometres from the La Spezia coast.
For 2026, Gli Orti di Pignone is scheduled for August 29 and 30, on the last weekend of the month, and is listed in the calendar of Authentic Ligurian Events. The village centre hosts stalls from local producers with seasonal vegetables, honey, cheeses, oil, wine, potatoes, beans, corn and chestnut flours, accompanied by traditional peasant dishes. The detailed program will be announced by Pro Loco Pignone closer to the event.
By car: from La Spezia, head up the Val di Vara; Pignone can also be reached from the Riomaggiore area via the hinterland. By train: stations in Cinque Terre or La Spezia, then continue towards the hinterland.
Free admission; purchases and consumption at producers' and stands.
