The Zucchini Fair of La Loggia: a celebration of gardens, flavors, and rural traditions
The Sagra del Cossot, also known as the Zucchini Fair, is the most anticipated event of the year in La Loggia, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. The name comes from the Piedmontese dialect: cossot is the local word for zucchini, a vegetable historically grown in the fields surrounding the town and now a symbol of the entire community. The event was created to showcase the area's agricultural traditions and popular culture, blending rural heritage, fine cuisine, and local excellence.
For one Sunday in June, the center of La Loggia transforms into a vibrant festival space. Along the streets and squares of the town center, centered around Piazza Cavour and the surrounding roads, a lively market unfolds, dedicated to gardening, local produce, and craftsmanship. The stalls offer plenty of tastings and curiosities linked to rural tradition, with the zucchini serving as the absolute star of the culinary offerings.
The Zucchini Fair is designed for visitors of all ages. The typical program includes:
More than just a simple food festival, the Sagra del Cossot is a defining moment for the identity of La Loggia and the agricultural plains south of Turin. It is the day the town showcases its bond with the land, welcomes visitors from neighboring areas, and renews a tradition that has been running for over twenty years. Admission to the events in the square is free, and the festival remains one of the most cherished local celebrations in the Piedmontese June calendar.

La Loggia is located in the southern outskirts of Turin, along the route towards Carmagnola. By car, it can be reached via the SP20 or the Turin ring road, taking the exit towards Moncalieri/La Loggia. By train, the La Loggia station is served by the SFM Turin–Pinerolo/Bra line of the Metropolitan Railway Service.
The fair takes place in the historic center, centered on Piazza Cavour and the surrounding streets, on a Sunday in early June. Admission to public events is free.
We recommend arriving in the morning to explore the market and food court at a leisurely pace. As this is an outdoor event, comfortable clothing and sun protection are advised during the middle of the day.
