The Sagra del Cornàt in Sondalo

The Sagra del Cornàt is one of the most characteristic food festivals of the summer in Sondalo (Province of Sondrio), in the Alta Valtellina. Organised by the Associazione Giovani Gli Sgangherati from the hamlet of Frontale, the festival is dedicated to cornàt, a typical Valtellina focaccia that can be enjoyed in both savoury and sweet versions, and is held at the town's Centro Polifunzionale.

Cornàt and its variations

The absolute star is the cornàt, offered in different variations. The savoury version is presented as cornàt "in padéla" and the Fiadarda variant, served with salad and local products. The sweet version, on the other hand, can be enjoyed with apples or the new Fugascia, a sweet focaccia with raisins, served with creams and fruit compotes. A journey into the flavours of Valtellina tradition, accompanied by craft beer from Birrificio Revertis.

A festival for everyone

The festival is also about celebration and fun. The programme includes an afternoon opening with the craft market and a play area with traditional wooden games, the aperi-cornàt with a DJ set, the opening of the kitchen, and in the evening, live music. A young and convivial atmosphere, with the collaboration of APT Sondalo, AVIS, local Alpini (mountain troops) and local producers.
