The patron saint of the upper Valle Camonica celebrates at the end of June
In the municipality of Monno, in the upper Valle Camonica, in the Province of Brescia, the most cherished festival of the year is that of the patron saints Peter and Paul, celebrated on June 29th. The village's parish church is dedicated to the two apostles, and the patronal feast that brings the entire community together is organised around this anniversary.
The heart of the festival is religious: solemn celebrations in the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul mark the days of the anniversary, with masses and moments of devotion. Alongside the liturgical dimension, the festival is enriched by civil and convivial events, organised with the contribution of the Pro Loco Monno-Mortirolo and local organisations.
With its approximately 500 inhabitants, Monno experiences the patronal feast as a moment of strong community identity. Perched at the foot of the Mortirolo pass, along the route from Valle Camonica to Tonale and Aprica, the village retains the slow and authentic rhythm of high-altitude villages. The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is the occasion when this identity manifests most strongly, amidst faith, tradition, and conviviality.
Visiting Monno during the patronal feast means discovering a little-explored corner of the Lombardy mountains, far from the main tourist flows. It is a village that proudly preserves its typical products โ from the famous Monno potato โ and its religious traditions, in a landscape of pastures, woods, and Camun peaks.
In 2026, Monno will once again celebrate its patron saints Saints Peter and Paul with the festival that brings together the community of the upper Valle Camonica each year around June 29th. The programme includes religious celebrations in the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, alongside civil and convivial events organised by the Pro Loco Monno-Mortirolo.
The detailed dates and programme will be published closer to the festival on the Pro Loco and parish channels.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Pro Loco Monno-Mortirolo and the parish in the weeks preceding the event. The patronal feast typically includes:
