Livigno relives past customs and traditions
The Festa del Costume Livignasco is one of the most cherished folk events in Livigno, in the Province of Sondrio. Every summer, the community comes together to celebrate and revive past customs and traditions, in an event that is both a popular festival and an act of collective memory.
The absolute protagonist is the traditional Livigno costume, worn during parades and reenactments that reconstruct scenes of life from the past. The village thus transforms into a large open-air stage, where the gestures, clothes, and crafts of tradition come back to life before the eyes of residents and visitors.
Alongside the parades and reenactments, the festival offers tastings of typical Livigno products, an opportunity to discover the authentic flavours of high-altitude Valtellina. It's a way to complete the experience, combining the visual and narrative dimension with the equally defining aspect of mountain gastronomy.
The 2026 edition of the Festa del Costume Livignasco, the 28th, takes place on Friday, July 31. The day revives Livigno's past customs and traditions with parades in traditional dress, historical reenactments, and tastings of typical Livigno products. It is one of the most representative folk events in the Valtellina locality, capable of uniting memory, tradition, and conviviality.
The full timetable will be published on the official Livigno website closer to the event.
