The international half marathon on the shores of Upper Lake Garda, connecting Riva del Garda, Arco, and Torbole
The Garda Trentino Half Marathon is the most anticipated running event of the autumn on Lake Garda. Every year, thousands of runners from dozens of nations gather at the start line at the PalaFiere in Riva del Garda, drawn by one of the most beautiful and fastest courses in Italy. The race takes place entirely within the Upper Garda Trentino region, touching Riva del Garda, Arco, and Torbole, in an area where the mild November climate offers near-perfect running conditions—neither too hot nor too cold.
The half marathon course starts in Riva del Garda, circles Monte Brione to join the road leading to San Giorgio, continues toward Arco, and enters the Sarca River bike path, the fourth-longest river in Trentino and the main tributary of Lake Garda. In the final stretch, runners race along the coast to the finish line at Spiaggia Sabbioni, overlooking the lake. It is a scenic, predominantly flat track, making it perfect for both those chasing a personal best and those wanting to enjoy a run immersed in the landscape.
The event is more than just a half marathon: alongside the 21.097 km race, there is a competitive 10 km, a non-competitive 4 km Run4Fun, and races dedicated to children and teenagers (Kids Run), which take place in the historic center of Arco. It is a true celebration for the entire Upper Garda community, attracting elite international athletes and amateurs of all levels.
Organized by Trentino Eventi, based in Pietramurata (Municipality of Dro, Province of Trento), the Garda Trentino Half Marathon is now a classic on the national and international running calendar, successfully blending sports, tourism, and promotion of the Upper Garda territory in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. The capped number of entries (4,800 spots for the half marathon) and frequent sell-outs are a testament to the event's success and reputation.
The 2026 edition of the Garda Trentino Half Marathon, the 24th in its history, takes place over the weekend of November 7-8, 2026, in Riva del Garda. The big day is Sunday, November 8, with the start of the half marathon at 10:15 AM from the PalaFiere on Via Baltera. Once again this year, the event has sold out, with the cap of 4,800 runners for the half marathon reached rapidly.
