About Rovereto in Fiore

Every May, the historic center of Rovereto transforms into a sprawling garden with Rovereto in Fiore & Portoni Aperti. Along Via Roma, Largo Vittime delle Foibe, and Via Tartarotti, over sixty exhibitors showcase flowers, plants, bonsai, and floral crafts, while the San Marco District opens its courtyards and gateways for workshops, tastings, and performances. A spring weekend featuring a market, showcooking, live music, and family activities, all with free admission in the heart of this Trentino city.

A sprawling garden in the heart of Rovereto

Rovereto in Fiore & Portoni Aperti is the annual spring event that brings the historic center of Rovereto to life, located in the province of Trento, in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige. For an entire weekend in May, the streets of the City of the Oak fill with colors and scents: Via Roma, Largo Vittime delle Foibe, and Via Tartarotti become an open-air market where over sixty exhibitors offer flowers, plants, bonsai, floral handicrafts, and specialties from local farms.

Spring market and local flavors

The market remains open both days, typically from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with stalls dedicated to floriculture and the agricultural excellence of the Vallagarina valley. Alongside the flowers, there are tastings of local products, wines, beers, and cider, while several local establishments participate in the "Gusto in Fiore" initiative, offering floral-themed aperitifs and dishes.

Portoni Aperti: the San Marco District tells its story

The "Portoni Aperti" (Open Gateways) concept is what makes this event unique. Merchants and businesses in the San Marco District open up courtyards, entryways, and private spaces that are usually hidden, transforming them into meeting places. Here, creative workshops for adults and children take place, ranging from organic cosmetics to herbalism, ceramics to crochet, and printing to watercolor, alongside floral-themed artist displays, talks, and small exhibitions.

Shows, music, and family activities

The program alternates between roving stilt-walkers, theatrical performances, live music in local venues, and DJ sets along Via Roma. There are also plenty of events designed for children, such as the famous Alpaca Garden in the Giardini di Via Carducci, creative workshops, face painting, and shows in the town's small squares. The experience is completed by guided tours of historic gardens and yoga and wellness sessions hosted in various city center locations.

A traditional spring appointment in Rovereto

Organized by the Consorzio Rovereto In Centro together with the San Marco District, in collaboration with the APT Rovereto and Vallagarina, the event has become one of the signature appointments of the city's spring season. Admission to the event is free; some workshops may require booking due to limited capacity. It is the perfect two-day trip to combine floral shopping with the discovery of Rovereto's historic center.
