About Rosticciana Festival

Every summer, the Rosticciana Festival brings the village of Trevinano, a hamlet of Acquapendente in the upper Lazio region of Tuscia, to life. Established in 2006 by the local Pro Loco, the festival celebrates 'rosticciana'โ€”charcoal-grilled pork ribs that have become a culinary symbol of this corner of Lazio bordering Tuscany and Umbria. For four nights, the village's main street transforms into a long, open-air dining table, featuring Alta Tuscia specialties, local wine, live music, and dancing late into the night.

The Rosticciana Festival in Trevinano

Every summer, the small village of Trevinano, a hamlet of the municipality of Acquapendente in the province of Viterbo, Lazio, lights up for the Rosticciana Festival. We are in the Alta Tuscia, a strip of land where Lazio meets Tuscany and Umbria, a landscape of rolling hills, woodlands, and ancient farmhouses that provides the perfect backdrop for one of the area's most beloved food and wine celebrations.

The history of the festival

The event was born in 2006 on the initiative of the Trevinano Pro Loco, in collaboration with the Municipality of Acquapendente. Over nearly twenty years, it has become a staple of the Alta Tuscia summer calendar, attracting visitors from across the province and the neighboring regions of Tuscany and Umbria. The 2025 edition marked its nineteenth year, confirming a tradition deeply rooted in the community.

Rosticciana, the absolute star

The heart of the festival is rosticciana, the local name for pork ribs slow-cooked over charcoal. It is a humble, convivial dish linked to the rural traditions of the hinterland, served here alongside other Alta Tuscia specialties. Local wine and traditional products are always available, offering a journey through simple and authentic flavors.

A village turned into an open-air tavern

During the festival nights, the main street of Trevinano transforms into a long, open-air dining table: guests sit elbow-to-elbow along the village road, surrounded by the scent of charcoal and glasses of wine. Food stalls generally open at 7:00 PM, and the festivities continue late into the evening with live music, dancing, and entertainment, ranging from singer-songwriters and ballroom dancing to folk music and dance parties that enliven the square.

The Trevinano Ri-Wind project

In recent years, the Rosticciana Festival has intertwined with Trevinano Ri-Wind, a cultural, social, and economic regeneration project for the village supported by PNRR funds, designed to combat the depopulation of small towns. Exhibitions, meetings, workshops, and performances now accompany the gastronomic festival, blending traditional flavors with a cultural program that breathes new life into the village.

How to experience the festival

The Rosticciana Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Lazio far from the major tourist crowds. We recommend arriving at a leisurely pace, strolling through the alleys of Trevinano, and letting the scent of the grill guide you to the long table. For large groups, booking with the Pro Loco is often recommended.

Rosticciana Festival โ€” edition 2026
