The Lambrusco di Sorbara Festival in the Terre del Sorbara
Rosso Rubino – Lambrusco Wine Festival is the food and wine event that every spring-summer ignites the Terre del Sorbara, in the territory of the Municipality of Bomporto, in the province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna. Organized by the Territory Promotion Service of the Municipality of Bomporto, the festival is a widespread journey through vineyards, wineries, and farmhouses to discover Lambrusco di Sorbara, the brilliant red wine with lively foam that gives the event its name.
Instead of concentrating in a single square, Rosso Rubino develops as an itinerary that touches the historic winemaking realities of the Terre del Sorbara: wineries such as Paltrinieri, Cantina della Volta, Garuti, Bellei, Divinja, and Foresteria Cavicchioli open their doors for evenings dedicated to tasting. Each event offers menus designed to enhance the characteristics of Lambrusco di Sorbara, accompanied by live music and entertainment.
The festival was created to promote Lambrusco di Sorbara and the typical products of the Modenese territory, in an area between Bomporto, Sorbara, Solara, and San Prospero. The event enjoys the patronage of the National Association of Wine Cities and the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco Doc, confirming the deep link between the event and the enological identity of the Emilian plain.
The evenings of Rosso Rubino offer visitors an immersive experience: guided tours of the wineries, food and wine pairings, events dedicated to the Classic Method, aperitifs, and picnics among the vineyards. The intimate format and attention to detail make the evenings highly sought after, often selling out, making Rosso Rubino a reference event for those who want to get to know the winemaking excellence of the Terre del Sorbara up close.
The nineteenth edition of the Lambrusco Wine Festival opens on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 6 PM in Solara, at the Lanterna di Diogene, with Friday aperitifs (in collaboration with Cantina della Volta, Angol d'Amig, and Cantina Zucchi) that continue until May 29. From June, the festival enters its full swing among the wineries of the territory.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Bomporto with the patronage of the National Association of Wine Cities and the Consortium for the Protection of Lambrusco Doc.
Bomporto is located on the plain, north of Modena. By car: from the A22 Brennero (exit Carpi or Modena Nord) or from the A1 (exit Modena Nord), then provincial roads towards Bomporto-Sorbara. By train: Modena station, then bus connections to Bomporto.
Individual evenings are hosted by the wineries: bookings, where necessary, are managed directly by the participating wineries. Prices vary depending on the proposed dinner or tasting. Advance booking is recommended: evenings often sell out.
