About Staggia Festival

The Sagra di Staggia is the gastronomic and parish festival of the hamlet of Staggia, in the Municipality of San Prospero (Province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna). For four days, the area of the former parish kindergarten in Via Chiesa Staggia comes alive with traditional Emilian cuisine, fried dumplings, local craft beers, live concerts every evening, quiz nights, and a fireworks display on the final night. Organized by the Parish with the Rock Beer Party group, it is one of the most cherished events in the Bassa modenese.

The village festival in Staggia

The Staggia Festival is the traditional festival of the hamlet of Staggia, in the Municipality of San Prospero, in the Province of Modena, in the heart of the Bassa modenese in Emilia-Romagna. Originally a parish festival linked to the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary, over time it has transformed into a very popular gastronomic festival, capable of attracting visitors from all over the San Prospero and Mirandola area and surrounding towns.

Where it takes place

The heart of the event is the Former Parish Kindergarten Area at Via Chiesa Staggia 15, with indoor and outdoor spaces that allow the festival to be held even in bad weather. The festival is organized by the Parish of Staggia together with the volunteer group Rock Beer Party, which is particularly responsible for the music and the bar area.

Traditional Emilian Cuisine

Gastronomy is one of the festival's strong points. The kitchen service operates every evening, with a wide selection of typical Emilian dishes:

  • First courses: tortelloni and gramigna, symbols of Modenese tradition;
  • Second courses: roast beef, scaloppine, and polenta in its various forms;
  • Fried dumplings served every evening, accompanied by local cured meats;
  • Homemade desserts and seasonal specialties.

Friday evenings are dedicated to grilling and sandwiches, while Sundays offer fixed traditional menus by reservation. The bar area offers craft beers from local breweries and cocktails. Vegetarian options are also available upon request.

Music, Shows, and Entertainment

The festival is not just about food: every evening features a different live concert with local bands and groups, accompanied by themed evenings and quiz games. The "Olivetti story" exhibition, dedicated to the historic company and its machines, is always open. The festival traditionally concludes with a fireworks display on the final evening, eagerly awaited by the residents of Staggia and the entire Municipality of San Prospero.

A Tradition of the Bassa Modenese

The Staggia Festival truly represents the spirit of Emilian village festivals, where conviviality around the table, popular music, and the bond with the parish community intertwine in one grand end-of-summer celebration. It is a genuine opportunity to discover the cuisine and hospitality of the Province of Modena away from the most crowded tourist routes.
