The truffle from Bosco della Panfilia takes centre stage in Sant'Agostino di Terre del Reno
In Sant'Agostino, one of the hamlets of the Municipality of Terre del Reno in the province of Ferrara, the truffle is not a fleeting gastronomic trend but the fruit of the territory. The Bosco della Panfilia, a natural oasis of about 80 hectares of alluvial origin along the Reno river, is an exceptional environment for the growth of the prized Tuber Magnatum Pico (white truffle) and smooth black truffle. It is no coincidence that Sant'Agostino has been part of the National Association of Truffle Towns since 2009: here, the link between the community, the river, and the woods translates into an event that attracts enthusiasts from all over Emilia-Romagna every year.
The peculiarity of this festival is that it is held in two distinct periods during the year. The September summer edition allows you to savour the different seasonal varieties of truffle in a convivial outdoor atmosphere, while the November autumn edition โ which in 2025 reaches its 19th edition โ is entirely dedicated to the king of the Ferrarese table, the precious white truffle Tuber Magnatum Pico, the absolute star of every dish.
Under the large marquee set up at the Renato Caselli sports field, local cuisine dishes are served, prepared by pasta makers with homemade pasta. The menu offers appetisers (spinach and pumpkin flans with truffle), first courses such as tortellini, tagliatelle, lasagne, and truffle risotto, meat courses โ cutlet, guinea fowl, tagliata, eggs with truffle โ side dishes, and traditional desserts. All dishes can also be served without truffle, to please every palate. A wine list is available to accompany the tasting.
The event is organised by the association Amici del Territorio della Comunitร di Sant'Agostino, active since 2012, in collaboration with the Municipality of Terre del Reno and local associations. More than just a gastronomic festival, it is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Bassa ferrarese, between the hamlets of Sant'Agostino, San Carlo, and Dosso, and to bring to the table the flavour of a product closely linked to the history of this water-rich land.
