The Pappiana running race in the Serchio River Park
The Rossini Corre is one of the most beloved running races in the province of Pisa, a spring event that has been enlivening the village of Pappiana, in the Municipality of San Giuliano Terme, Tuscany, for over twenty years. Organized by the GP Podistica Rossini, the event combines the competitive spirit of road racing with the convivial atmosphere typical of village festivals, attracting hundreds of participants every year, including registered athletes, amateurs, and walkers.
The track, approximately 10 kilometers long, is a mix that alternates long stretches of dirt road within the Serchio River Park with paved sections near the town. It is a fast, smooth, and accessible course that allows you to run immersed in nature along the riverbanks, in one of the most picturesque corners of the San Giuliano area. The start and finish are located at the Circolo Arci 90, at Via Lenin 95, the beating heart of the village and the community's meeting point.
This open format is the secret to the longevity of Rossini Corre: those who want to test themselves against the clock will find a selective trial, while those just looking for an evening of movement and socializing can cover the route at their own pace, enjoying the landscape of the Serchio Park.
Like every true Tuscan festival, Rossini Corre also brings the flavors of the land to the table. At the end of the race, there is refreshments for participants and rich prizes based on local products: tins of extra virgin olive oil produced in the area for the top finishers and, inevitably, a raffle for a whole prosciutto among all the bib numbers. It is this blend of competition, nature, and conviviality that makes the event an unmissable classic of the Pisan running calendar and the entire province.
The 23rd Rossini Corre was held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Pappiana, in the Municipality of San Giuliano Terme, as the sixth stage of the Criterium Podistico Toscano. The event, organized by the GP Podistica Rossini, attracted about 300 runners for a 10-kilometer race along the usual mix of Serchio River Park dirt roads and asphalt.
A well-organized evening of sport that confirmed the vitality of Pisan running, with the participation of numerous local clubs and those from neighboring provinces.
