The spring festival of Santa Maria la Longa, between flowers, creativity and flavours
Rose, Perfumes and Flavours is the spring event of Santa Maria la Longa, a municipality in the Bassa friulana region in the province of Udine. For an entire May weekend, the village transforms into a colourful and fragrant path that combines, as the name suggests, the flowers, scents, and flavours of the territory, in a festival designed for all ages.
The festival spaces are the heart of the village: Piazza Julia, Via Roma, and the park of Villa Miani Calabrese Petrei, which provide the backdrop for markets, exhibitions, workshops, music, and convivial moments.
The absolute protagonists are the flowers, with the dedicated market, the arrangements, and the floral workshops for adults, but also with creative activities and animated readings designed for children. There are also art and photography exhibitions, a craft market, and an amateur dog show, in a rich and varied programme that showcases local creativity and craftsmanship.
The days are enlivened by music and entertainment, from the Opening DJ Set to the 'WOW Girl Power' evening, from the Miss Italia Selections to the musical aperitif. There is also space for sport and movement with the 'Corsa dai Colors', a 7-kilometre colourful walk, and with the 'Torneo dei Borghi' (Tournament of the Villages), as well as conferences on beekeeping and honey and games for everyone, such as the giant Snakes and Ladders. Completing the festival are the craft stalls and food kiosks.
Santa Maria la Longa is located in the plain of the Bassa friulana, an agricultural area rich in historic villas and traditions. The event, organised by local entities, is the best way to discover this corner of Friuli in spring, amidst flowers, flavours, and the typical hospitality of community festivals.
The 2026 edition of Rose, Perfumes and Flavours takes place on May 16 and 17, enlivening the heart of Santa Maria la Longa with two days dedicated to flowers, creativity, and flavours. The event is held between Piazza Julia, Via Roma, and the park of Villa Miani Calabrese Petrei, with a rich programme of markets, workshops, music, and convivial moments.
Among the highlights of the edition are the Miss Italia 2026 Selections, hosted by the event, along with floral workshops, activities for children, the colourful 'Corsa dai Colors' walk, and conferences on beekeeping and honey.
