Two days of flowers, fragrances, and tradition in the historic center of Venaria Reale
The Rose Festival is one of the most beloved events in the town of Venaria Reale, just outside Turin, in Piedmont. For an entire weekend in May, the city's historic center—from Via Mensa to Piazza Annunziata, all the way to Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Viale Buridani—dresses up to become a sensory journey through flowers, colors, and scents. This event blends nature, art, music, and tradition, organized by the Fondazione Via Maestra in collaboration with the City of Venaria Reale and the Consortium of Savoy Royal Residences.
The heart of the festival lies in the exhibitors animating the city center: roses of every variety, aromatic plants, natural essences, garden flowers, and high-quality food and wine products. Temporary gardens created by local nurserymen spring up in the squares, while artisans and producers fill the Square of Taste and Craftsmanship. Strolling among the stalls is the best way to discover the Piedmontese spring, with the chance to take home a plant, a bouquet of roses, or a local specialty.
The iconic image of the festival is the Flower Carpet (Infiorata): a tapestry of 50,000 rose petals decorating the spectacular Chapel of Sant'Uberto at the Reggia di Venaria. The work, created by local associations and artists such as the Amici della Certosa Reale, the Circolo degli Artisti di Torino, and La Rosa delle Idee, provides one of the most scenic moments of the entire event.
The Rose Festival is accompanied by Fragranzia, an exhibition dedicated to the world of essences and perfumes, featuring sensory paths and olfactory workshops for adults and children. Numerous appointments are also held within the Reggia di Venaria, from musical performances and cultural meetings to artists painting live in the Court of Honor. It is a festival designed for all ages, from children with dedicated shows and workshops to gardening enthusiasts, and those simply looking for a day of beauty and relaxation in one of the most fascinating villages in the province of Turin.
The 22nd edition of the Rose Festival animated Venaria Reale on May 16 and 17, 2026, with exhibitors along the city center streets, temporary gardens in the squares, exhibitions, shows, and workshops. The event was accompanied by the ninth edition of Fragranzia, dedicated to essences and perfumes, with sensory paths and olfactory workshops. Among the most anticipated moments were the 50,000-petal rose Flower Carpet and the events at the Reggia di Venaria.
