The rally that kicks off the motorsport season in the heart of the Canavese region
The Ronde del Canavese is the rally race that traditionally opens the motorsport season in Piedmont. It takes place between Rivarolo Canavese and Cuorgnè, two municipalities in the Upper Canavese area in the province of Turin, and every year it attracts dozens of Italian and international crews ready to challenge themselves on the technical and demanding roads of this territory. Organized by the RTmotorevent team, the event is now a classic on the regional rally calendar and an ideal testing ground for drivers looking to fine-tune their cars and setups for the entire sporting year.
The heart of the race is the Pratiglione special stage, approximately eleven kilometers long, which runs from the Pemonte hamlet through locations that have become legendary for fans: the Rivara junction, the pass in front of Pratiglione with its double hairpin, and the long descent towards Prascorsano. The track is so winding that it has been nicknamed the "hundred-curve stage," where clean driving and a steady rhythm make more of a difference than pure power. The stage is repeated several times throughout the day, giving the public numerous opportunities to admire the cars in action.
The headquarters are in Rivarolo Canavese, where the Urban Center area hosts the start, finish, and awards ceremony. In Cuorgnè, the service park is set up in Piazza Ponte Vecchio, and the regrouping area in Piazza Martiri: here, mechanics work on the cars between stages, and spectators can get close to the pits to experience the rally atmosphere up close.
Now in its twentieth edition, the Ronde del Canavese is much more than just a sporting competition: it is a festival that involves the entire community of the Upper Canavese, with road closures, lively towns, and enthusiasts lining the hairpins to cheer on the drivers. The race awards historic trophies such as the Livio Bausano Memorial, dedicated to the overall winner, and the Gino Bellan Memorial, reserved for the first Canavese crew. For the Piedmontese territory, it represents an opportunity for visibility and a moment of great popular participation in one of the most evocative areas at the foot of the Canavese valleys.
The twentieth edition of the Ronde del Canavese, held on February 21 and 22, 2026, celebrated an important milestone with a record entry of seventy crews. The race confirmed its role as the season opener for the Piedmontese rally championship, enlivening the roads between Rivarolo Canavese, Cuorgnè, and the municipalities of the Upper Canavese crossed by the Pratiglione special stage.
Carmine Tribuzio and Alice Tasselli took the top step of the podium at the wheel of a Skoda Fabia, bringing victory back to Italy after the French successes of previous years. Second place went to the French duo Lucas Darmezin and Charlyne Quartini in a Hyundai i20, and third to "Linos" and Alessandro Mattioda in a Skoda Fabia.
Service park in Piazza Ponte Vecchio in Cuorgnè; regrouping in Piazza Martiri. The Pratiglione stage, with the Rivara junction, the pass in front of Pratiglione, and the descent towards Prascorsano, is nicknamed the "hundred-curve stage."
Rivarolo Canavese can be reached by car from the Turin ring road by following the signs for the Canavese area (about 40 km from the city). By train, it is served by the Turin-Pont Canavese railway line. Cuorgnè, home to the service park, is just a few kilometers from Rivarolo.
The Pratiglione special stage, between Pemonte and Prascorsano, is the best spot to watch the cars pass by. The start, finish, and awards ceremony take place at the Urban Center in Rivarolo Canavese.
During the event, road closures and parking bans are in effect in the involved municipalities: it is recommended to check local ordinances and follow the instructions of the staff. Public access along the route is free.
