A carnival for the little ones with Marcu and Marculina in Piazza Tessore
The Roletto Children's Carnival is the carnival event designed for the little ones in the town of Roletto, a small center in the Pinerolo plains, in the Province of Turin. In the heart of Piedmont, at the foot of the Pinerolo mountains, the festival brings color, masks, and joy to the square, transforming the entire town into a large playground and meeting place for families for an afternoon.
The absolute stars of the event are Marcu and Marculina, the traditional masks of Roletto. Every year, a young couple from the town dresses up as these two traditional characters, symbolically receiving the keys to the town and kicking off the festivities. This investiture, accompanied by music and entertainment, is the most heartfelt moment of the Roletto Carnival and represents the deep bond between the community and its roots.
The afternoon of festivities takes place in Piazza Tessore and includes a rich program dedicated to children and families:
The snack is prepared by the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Roletto and the Rural Women's Association, who have been bringing this town festival to life together for years in the spirit of conviviality and traditional Piedmontese flavors.
The Roletto Children's Carnival is much more than just a party: it is the expression of a community that gathers around its children and its masks. Organized by the Pro Loco with the contribution of the Rural Women's Association and local groups, the event confirms year after year the attachment of the people of Roletto to the popular traditions of the Pinerolo area. In case of bad weather, the party moves to the marquee on Via Roncaglia 1, ensuring the fun for the little ones continues regardless.
