Three summer evenings in the villages of the Renon plateau, blending tradition, gastronomy, music, and craftsmanship.
The Rittner Sunnenseitn is one of the most distinctive summer events in the municipality of Renon (Ritten), the famous sunny plateau overlooking the city of Bolzano in Trentino-Alto Adige. The name, in the South Tyrolean dialect, evokes the "sunny side" of this land of farmsteads, forests, and Dolomite vistas. The festival transforms the centers of the plateau's three main villages into vibrant community celebrations, running from late afternoon until midnight.
The unique feature of the Rittner Sunnenseitn is that each evening takes place in a different village and is dedicated to a specific theme linked to the life and vocations of the territory:
During the three evenings, typically from 6:00 PM to midnight, the squares and streets of the town centers fill with food stalls offering typical South Tyrolean products, craft stalls, workshops, performances, and concerts. There is no shortage of activities for children, such as interactive circus acts, a mini-disco, and games. The Rittner Sunnenseitn thus combines tradition and modernity, showcasing mountain agriculture, local gastronomy, commerce, and the plateau's artisan workshops.
For centuries, Renon has been a summer holiday destination (the historic Sommerfrische of Bolzano families) thanks to its mild climate, meadows, and famous Earth Pyramids. Accessible from Bolzano via the Renon cable car and the characteristic narrow-gauge railway, the plateau offers an ideal setting for an event that celebrates the rural and community identity of the municipality of Renon, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige.
The Rittner Sunnenseitn 2026 opens on Thursday, July 23, with the evening in Oberbozen, dedicated to the theme of agriculture and artistic craftsmanship. On the program, in the village center from 6:00 PM to midnight: a creative craft market, interactive circus for children, mini-disco, traditional farmers' stalls, and live music. The festival continues with the evenings in Unterinn (culture and associations) and Klobenstein (commerce, crafts, and a family program with music and activities). The three evenings bring the village centers of the municipality of Renon, in the Province of Bolzano, to life with typical gastronomy, entertainment, and tradition.
The Renon plateau is connected to Bolzano by the Renon cable car (located on Via Renon, just a few minutes from Bolzano train station) up to Oberbozen, where the Renon railway departs, reaching Klobenstein via the other villages. By car, you can drive up from Bolzano along the plateau road to reach Unterinn, Oberbozen, and Klobenstein.
The evenings generally take place from 6:00 PM until midnight in the village centers. Admission to the event is free; food and drinks at the stalls are available for purchase.
