The Christmas market in the star village

Every year, on the first Sunday of Advent, the Kulturhaus in Steinegg (Collepietra) dresses up for the holidays to host the village's traditional Christmas market. We are in Collepietra, a hamlet of the municipality of Cornedo all'Isarco/Karneid, in the Val d'Ega (Eggental), in the heart of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/South Tyrol. The village is known as Sternendorf, the "star village": thanks to its particularly dark and clear sky, it has become a reference point for astronomical observation, and this suspended atmosphere also frames the wait for Christmas.

A market with a heart of gold

The event is organized by the Karitative Frauen Steinegg, the local charitable women's group: about twenty active members, together with numerous volunteers from Collepietra and the surrounding area, carefully set up the stalls and bring the day to life. The hallmark of this market is that all proceeds are donated to charity, a gesture of community that has always accompanied this tradition.

What you will find at the stalls

The Kulturhaus fills with meticulously curated stands, featuring handmade crafts, Christmas decorations, tree ornaments, and small gift ideas. There is no shortage of traditional sweets and South Tyrolean specialties to enjoy in a warm and intimate atmosphere. It is the ideal opportunity to begin the Advent season while supporting a good cause.

How to reach Collepietra

The market is held at the Kulturhaus in Steinegg, easily accessible both by car (parking available nearby) and by public transport: several bus lines connect Collepietra with Bolzano, Nova Levante/Carezza, Obereggen, and Pietralba. Participation is free and open to all.
