The international piano competition for young talents under 30 at the Teatro degli Industri in Grosseto
The Recondite Armonie International Piano Competition is one of the most anticipated events in the musical season of Grosseto, the capital of the Maremma region in Tuscany. Organized by the Recondite Armonie Cultural Association under the patronage of the Municipality of Grosseto and in collaboration with the Teatri di Grosseto, the competition brings dozens of young pianists from every corner of the globe to the Teatro degli Industri each year, turning the city into a crossroads of musical languages and diverse cultures.
The event is led by the artistic direction of pianists Diego Benocci and Gala Chistiakova, who have turned Recondite Armonie into a platform for promoting emerging talents. The competition is aimed at young pianists under 30 residing in Italy and abroad and is divided into several categories and sections, culminating in the prestigious Piano Master section for the highest-level contestants. Since 2022, a section dedicated to four-hand piano duos has also been introduced, reflecting a constantly growing format.
The performances are evaluated by an international jury composed of renowned professors and concert performers from countries such as Italy, Germany, Russia, and Argentina. At stake are not only financial rewards, with a prize pool exceeding 5,000 euros for the overall category winners, but also concert engagements in collaboration with prominent festivals such as Palermo Classica and the Young Classic Dialog in Berlin. For young performers, this is a real springboard for a concert career.
Recondite Armonie is more than just a competition. Surrounding the contest rounds is an elaborate program of concerts and cultural projects, from the International Music Festival to the exchanges of the Young Musicians of the World project, which enliven Grosseto with events dedicated to the great piano and chamber repertoire. It is a way to bring the public of the Grosseto province and the entire Maremma closer to classical music, in a welcoming atmosphere that combines high artistic standards with typical Tuscan warmth.
The 7th edition of Recondite Armonie brought over 40 young pianists under 30 from 14 countries to Grosseto, including Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Vietnam, Japan, France, Israel, China, South Korea, Belarus, Bulgaria, Romania, Singapore, and Russia. The auditions were held at the Teatro degli Industri and related venues before a seven-member international jury. The competition, divided into Section 1 (solo piano, categories A-D) and the Piano Master Section, awarded over 5,000 euros in prizes and concert engagements at festivals such as Palermo Classica and the Young Classic Dialog in Berlin.
