The international festival of archaeological cinema and cultural heritage in Rovereto
The RAM Film Festival - Rovereto Archaeology Memories is one of the longest-running and most renowned European festivals dedicated to archaeological cinema and cultural heritage. Established in 1990 and organized by the Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto, the festival brings an international selection of documentaries, docu-fictions, and animated films to the capital of the Vallagarina valley in the province of Trento, exploring the past and its dialogue with the present.
RAM is much more than a film festival: it is a meeting point and a study hub for enthusiasts, curious minds, scholars, and film professionals. The program is divided into four major competitive sections that define the festival's soul:
Alongside the film program, RAM offers meetings with filmmakers, guest speakers, debates, masterclasses, aperitifs in the Museum garden, city-wide events, and the CINEMaSCUOLA section dedicated to schools. The festival also features immersive content in the OFF program, with fulldome screenings and virtual reality (VR) experiences.
The main screenings take place at the "F. Melotti" Auditorium of the Cultural and Museum Hub on Corso Bettini, with events also held at the Sala Zeni of the Fondazione Museo Civico and other locations across Rovereto. The city, a jewel of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, provides an ideal setting thanks to its rich historical and museum heritage, from the MART to the War Museum.
Access to RAM Film Festival screenings is free, with reservations recommended for major events. It is a precious opportunity to engage with the world of archaeology and cultural heritage through the power of cinematic storytelling, in one of the sector's leading international events.
The 37th edition of the RAM Film Festival will take place in Rovereto from Wednesday, October 7 to Sunday, October 11, 2026. This year's focus, "Glimpses of Cities", proposes looking at the city as a living and layered organism, an archive in constant transformation where archaeology, memory, and the present intertwine.
As per tradition, the event will bring an international selection of documentaries and short films to Rovereto, divided into the sections Archaeological Cinema, History and Memory, Traditions and Cultures, and Animated Culture, accompanied by meetings, guests, and in-depth discussions. The detailed program is currently being defined and will be published by the Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto on the official website. Access to screenings will be free.
Rovereto is easily accessible by train (station on the Verona-Brenner line) and by car via the A22 Brenner motorway, taking the Rovereto Sud or Rovereto Nord exit. Screenings are held at the "F. Melotti" Auditorium, Corso Bettini 43, and at the Fondazione Museo Civico in Borgo Santa Caterina 41.
Free access to all screenings; reservations are recommended for main events. Information: [email protected], tel. +39 0464 452832.
